New RoboCop sequel, RoboCop Returns in development, with Neill Blomlamp directing.

Get ready for a for a new RoboCop film. Deadline reports that MGM has a new installment of the film franchise in development, titled RoboCop Returns

Neill Blomkamp, director of the Academy Award nominated District 9, has been tapped to direct RoboCop Returns. The writers of the original RoboCop film, Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner, will serve as producer and executive producer respectively. Scripwriting the film is Justin Rhodes, adapting a script written by Neumeier and Miner for a sequel that was never filmed. 
The original RoboCop film was released in 1987, and grossed $50 million dollars at the box office. The original film has spawned two sequels Robocop 2 (1990), and Robocop 3 (1993), with a reboot of the series in 2014
