Bowl projections (unless otherwise noted) are from Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, and Jason Kirk of SB*Nation.
Six or more wins (Bowl eligible)
ACC Atlantic
North Carolina State (6-2, conference 4-0)
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl vs. Mississippi State (Dec. 30, Jacksonville, FL.)
Kirk 2017 Sun Bowl vs. Utah (Dec. 29, El Paso, TX.)
Clemson (7-1, conference 5-1)
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2018 Rose Bowl Game vs. Ohio State (Jan. 1, 2018, Pasadena, CA. (College Football Playoff semifinal no. 2 vs. no. 3)
Kirk: 2018 Sugar Bowl vs. Alabama (Jan. 1, 2018, New Orleans, LA. CFP semifinal no.1 vs. no. 4)
These projections were made before the first CFP Committee Rankings were released on Tuesday.
ACC Costal
Miami (FL.) (7-0, conference 5-0)
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Orange Bowl vs. Georgia (Dec. 30, Miami, FL.)
Kirk: 2017 Camping World Bowl vs. Texas (Dec. 28, Orlando, FL.)
Palm still going with the "ICWYDT" pick of Mark Richt-coached Miami, and Richt's former employer, Georgia.
Virginia Tech (7-1, conference 3-1)
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Camping World Bowl vs. Iowa St. (Dec. 28)
Kirk: 2017 Orange Bowl vs. Notre Dame (Dec. 30)
Bowl featuring ACC school vs. independent school wth a business arrangement with ACC. This has got be the most mind-numbing projection of the week.
Five wins (Magic number: 1)
ACC Atlantic
Boston College (5-4, conference 3-3)
Next three games
Nov. 4 BYE
Nov. 11 vs. NC State
Nov. 18 vs. UConn
Nov. 25 @ Syracuse
UConn is the opponent that Boston College is most likely to get its sixth win.
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Pinstripe Bowl vs. Minnesota (Dec. 27, New York City, NY)
Kirk: 2017 Quick Lane Bowl vs. Eastern Michigan (Dec. 26, Detroit, MI)
The Pinstripe Bowl would probably be the preferred bowl here, as it would be the bowl that BC supporters would be more likely to attend.
Wake Forest (5-3, conference 2-3)
Next four games
Nov. 4 @ Notre Dame
Nov. 11 @ Syracuse
Nov. 18 vs. NC State
Nov. 25 vs. Duke
Millions of college football fans hope that Wake can get it's sixth win over Notre Dame, presumably knocking the Fighting Irish out of the CFP semifinals.
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Military Bowl vs. Navy (Dec. 28, Annapolis, MD.)
Kirk: 2017 Military Bowl vs. Navy
Rare agreement between Palm and Kirk here.
Louisville (5-4, conference 2-4)
Next three games
Nov. 4 BYE
Nov. 11 vs. Virginia
Nov. 18 vs. Syracuse
Nov. 25 @ Kentucky
There shouldn't be a problem for Louisville to get at least one win before the end of the season.
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Sun Bowl vs. Stanford (Dec. 29)
Kirk: 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl vs. South Carolina (Dec. 30)
Louisville vs. South Carolina would probably be the better matchup here.
ACC Costal
Virginia (5-3, conference 2-2)
Next four games
Nov. 4 vs. Georgia Tech
Nov. 11 @ Louisville
Nov. 18 @ Miami
Nov. 24 vs. Virginia Tech
In theory, Virginia should be able to chalk up the sixth win it needs for guaranteed bowl eligibility. In reality, all four the Cavilers' upcoming opponents will be strong challengers.
Projected bowl and opponent
Ken Bonagura, ESPN: 2017 Military Bowl vs. Houston
Palm and Kirk project Virginia being on the outside looking in this upcoming postseason. Bonagura's ESPN partner, David M. Hale, projects a Military Bowl with Navy vs. Virginia.
Four wins (Magic number: 2)
ACC Atlantic
Syracuse (4-4, conference 2-2)
Next four games
Nov. 4 @ Florida State
Nov. 11 vs. Wake Forest
Nov. 18 @ Louisville
Nov. 25 vs. Boston College
Two wins in this stretch are feasible, but will have to be hard-fought.
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: None
Kirk: 2017 Pinstripe Bowl vs. Nebraska (Dec. 27)
Pinstripe Bowl a logical postseason landing place for the Orange.
ACC Costal
Georgia Tech (4-3, conference 3-2)
Next four games
Nov. 4 @ Virginia
Nov. 11 vs. Virginia Tech
Nov. 18 @ Duke
Nov. 25 vs. Georgia
Virginia and Duke may be the best places for Georgia Tech to earn the necessary wins for bowl eligibility
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Belk Bowl vs. Texas A&M (Dec. 29, Charlotte, NC)
Kirk: 2017 Belk Bowl vs. Vanderbilt
The Yellow Jackets apparently fated to be in the Belk Bowl
Pittsburgh (4-5, conference 2-3)
Next three games
Nov. 4 BYE
Nov. 9 vs. North Carolina
Nov. 18 @ Virginia Tech
Nov. 24 vs. Miami
We enter the territory of teams under .500. Two wins for Pitt are going to be hard to get here.
Projected bowl and opponent
None
Duke (4-5, conference 1-5)
Next three games
Nov. 4 BYE
Nov. 11 @ Army
Nov. 18 vs. Georgia Tech
Nov. 25 @ Wake Forest
There's a possibility for two win in Duke's last three games, but it will have to pull off an upset or two to do it.
Projected bowl and opponent
Palm: 2017 Independence Bowl vs. Florida Atlantic (Dec. 27, Shreveport, LA.)
Kirk: 2017 Independence Bowl vs. UAB
Consider: Neither Palm or Kirk projected currently 5-3 Virginia getting a bowl bid, but project 4-5 Duke getting one. Only logical explanation for this would have to be Duke getting the academic waiver.
