Jimmy Buffett To Perform "Margaritaville" On Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.

From the "Is this a good thing or a bad thing?" department comes word that Jimmy Buffett is scheduled to appear on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2016. Buffett will perform live via satellite from  his concert at Barclay's Center in New York City that evening. He's scheduled to perform "Margaritaville" following the New Year's Eve Times Square ball drop.

The whole thing is kind of awkward, because ABC is obviously using Buffett to fill the broadcast's traditional "performer to please you mom and dad" segment. It doesn't help that he's apparently only performing "Margaritaville," which is the only Buffett song most Americans would recognize. A national tragedy if there ever was one.
