It isn't just Godzilla that will get a "Resurgence" in 2016. 20th Century Fox released the trailer for the sequel to 1996's summer blockbuster Independence Day. Titled Independence Day: Resurgence, the new film in the series takes place 20 years after the original alien invasion of the Earth was thwarted. Earth has improved its defenses over the decades in preparation for another possible invasion attempt. But as David Gevinson (Jeff Goldblum) says in the trailer, "It won't be enough."

Returning with Goldblum are ID4 cast members include Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Judd Hirsch, and Brent Spiner. Joining the returning cast members are Liam Hemsworth (Gale in The Hunger Games series), Sela Ward (Gone Girl), Maika Monroe (It Follows), Joey King (White House Down), William Fitcher (Armageddon),  Angelababy (Hitman: Agent 47), and Jesse Usher (When the Game Stands Tall). Usher is set to play Dylan Dubrow Hiller, the stepson of original ID4 hero Capt. Steve Hiller (Will Smith). Sadly, Smith won't be in the sequel, as director Roland Emmerich lamented that "he's too expensive."

Independence Day: Resurgence is scheduled for a June 24, 2016 release.
