Big 12 Will Require Member Schools To Play At Least One Out Of Conference Game Against A "Power 5" Conference School.

The Big 12 is joining the list of conferences that will require member schools to schedule at least one out of conference game against a "Power 5" conference member school each season.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement released by the conference that “This move will strengthen the resumes for all Big 12 teams. Coupled with the nine-game full round robin Conference schedule our teams play, it will not only benefit the teams at the top of our standings each season, but will impact the overall strength of the Conference.”

Independent schools Notre Dame, BYU and Army will also count toward meeting the "Power 5" requirement.

Big 12 schools will also be limited to scheduling only one non-FBS opponent each season.
