North Carolina releases notification of allegations letter from NCAA.

The University of North Carolina released a 59-page notification of Allegations the school received from the NCAA. You can read the full document here.



The NCAA accuses UNC of committing five severe (Level 1) violations of academic conduct. The accusations mostly surround the school's Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes, and its African and African-American Studies Department. Both bodies are accused of setting up "paper classes" in which student-athletes were only required to turn in one paper, and were then give a high grade for the class. This practice is alleged to have gone on for a period of eighteen years.

No members of the UNC football program are accused of wrongdoing in the document. However, several former football coaches were reportedly interviewed by the NCAA.

UNC has 90 days to respond to the NCAA's accusations.
