Shoulder injury could keep Marcus Mariota from throwing at NFL Combine.

Marcus Mariota with 2014 Heisman Trophy.

Former Oregon starting quarterback Marcus Mariota has revealed that he injured his right (throwing) shoulder during the Ducks' loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff title game back on Jan. 12.

The injury, which Mariota described as a sprain to his AC joint in his right shoulder, could prevent the 2014 Heisman Trophy winner from throwing at the upcoming NFL Combine, to be held Feb. 17-23.

"Right now we're still making that decision, whether to throw at the Combine. I had to kinda rest about a week-and-a-half," Mariota said, speaking at a press conference Saturday in Laie, where he was being honored as the first Polynesian College Football Player of the Year. "I sprained the AC joint (in his right, throwing, shoulder). But now, I'm able to throw. Feels good."

Marietta was tackled late in the CFP title game by Ohio St. defensive lineman Joey Bosa.
