Three members of the Akron football team - freshman running back Bryan Green, senior safety Johnny Robinson, and senior cornerback Donte Williams - have been suspended following their arrests on Monday on felony charges of "aggravated riot."

The incident which led to the arrests happened in April, at a McDonalds located near the University of Akron campus. Two separate groups became embroiled in what is described in a "near brawl." An off-duty Akron police officer who had been hired to handle security for the restaurant, along with another individual described as an "student trying to enter the restaurant," were struck by an SUV trying to leave the scene of the incident.

Twelve individuals, including the three Akron players, have been charged with counts relating to the incident.

Green faces charges of "aggravated riot." Robinson faces charges of "aggravated menacing and aggravated riot," and Williams faces charges of "obstructing, resisting arrest and aggravated riot."

Neither the University of Akron nor Zips head coach Terry Bowen have released a statement about the arrests and suspensions.
