Four Clemson players suspended for season opener against Georgia.

Clemson will be short four players when it opens its 2014 season on the road against Georgia. Offensive tackle Shaq Anthony, offensive guard David Beasley, defensive end Corey Crawford, and cornerback Gary Petrers have all been suspended for the Aug. 30 game for the ever-vague "team rules violation.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney released the following statement about the suspensions.

"A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions," Swinney said in a statement released by the school. "These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field."
If things get out of hand on Clemson, and Athens, we could be seeing an unofficial contest between Clenson and UGA over who can suspend the most players for the season opener.
