Jadeveon Clowney will need offseason surgery for bone spurs.

South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has announced that he will require offseason surgery to deal with a lingering issue with bone spurs in his right foot. It's a problem Clowney has had to deal with on and off since high school.

“It's painful,” Clowney explained to reporters from The Spartanburg Herald Journal.“I'm out here playing on it though. I'm just trying to give it everything I've got.”

Clowney explained that the foot "only bothers me when I'm out there. It just builds up pain,” and that “The more I keep going the more it bothers me.”

Clowney, who is considered by many to be the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, has seen his  performance go down notably this season.
