John L. Smith is an ex-Arkansas coach.

The Annus Hawgriblis for Arkansas is almost over. The school's athletic director, Jeff Long, has officially announced that John L. Smith will not be retained for next season.

"I have great respect for coach Smith and I thank him for the sincere commitment he has shown our program," said Long in a statement. "He made a difficult decision in uncertain times to return from his alma mater to guide the young men in our football program and I will always be grateful for his efforts."

Smith was hired to replace Bobby Petrino in April, and signed a ten-month contract. Smith had been hired to coach at Weber State, his alma mater, in December of 2011 but left the program without ever coaching a game to coach at Arkansas."

Now the fun begins with speculation with who Arkansas hires for next season.
