Gene Chizik is an ex-Auburn coach.

Gene Chizik is officially an ex-Auburn head football coach. CBS Sports is reporting that the school let go of the HC that only two years ago led it to a BCS title only two years ago.

"The Tigers finished the season 3-9 after getting hammered by arch-rival Alabama Saturday, 49-0. The loss dropped Auburn to 0-8 in SEC play. The team was ranked No. 25 in the preseason.

In four seasons at Auburn, Chizik was 33-19. Only once in his four years did the Tigers finish in the Top 25. In 2010, when they won the title by going 14-0 behind Heisman winner Cam Newton."

Chizik becomes the fourth SEC HC to be fired this season, the others being Kentucky's Joker Phillips, and Tennessee's Derek Dooley, and Arkansas' John L. Smith.
