Steve Spurrier: The Old Ball Coach on ex-ball coach Bobby Petrino

Does South Carolina  head football coach Steve Spurrier have anything to say about the firing of former Arkansas HC Bobby Petrino? Of course he does.

“It’s a shame any time something happens to a coach,” Spurrier said after the RBC Heritage pro-am. “It’s amazing how often it happens now. It never used to happen in the old days.

“But we all have to be very careful, as we all know.”

Spurrier shows unusual restraint when it comes to the issue of Petrino's firing. However, one has to think that inside, The Old Ball Coach is a little glad that the he and the Gamecocks may have dodged a bullet in 2012 as they are scheduled to face Arkansas on Nov. 10. Petrino and the Razorbacks had beaten South Carolina three years in a row.
