Bobby Petrino is an ex-Arkansas head football coach.

Arkansas has finally decided to fire head coach Bobby Petrino. The firing is in response to Petrino's lying about his involvement with a 25 year-old school employee (whom he had recently hired to work in the Arkansas athletic department) and that she was his passenger when he was involved in a motorcycle accident on April 1.

"Athletic director Jeff Long announced his decision at an evening news conference and laid out a stunning laundry list of misdeeds against the man he hired away from the Atlanta Falcons four years ago.

They included ignoring multiple chances over the past 10 days to come clean to Long about a relationship that had crossed the line from infidelity into workplace favoritism.

''He made the decision a conscious decision to mislead the public on Tuesday, and in doing so negatively and adversely affected the reputation of the University of Arkansas and our football program,'' Long said, choking up at one point as he discussed telling players that their coach was gone. ''In short, coach Petrino engaged in a pattern of misleading and manipulative behavior designed to deceive me and members of the athletic staff, both before and after the motorcycle accident.''

Petrino pretty much made it easy to be fired in the end due to violating school policy and lying to his bosses. Arkansas fans who supported Petrino may not like it, but there was clear cause to fire him. Which means the school won't have to pay out his $18 million dollar buyout clause in his contract. Unless they pay him off to not engage in any Mike Leach-like lawsuit.
