Hail Saban!

There are some who feel that Alabama head coach Nick Saban is a heartless taskmaster who comes down tough on both his players and his coaching staff.

That perception wasn't quite true in the case of Jeremy Pruitt, Saban's former defensive coordinator and currently head coach of Tennessee.

"I don't think there is anything tough about it," Pruitt told "Three Man Front" on WJOX 94.5 in Birmingham. "The one thing about coach Saban is everybody's role in the building is defined. He has a standard that he wants everyone to excel to. He sets the pace. He's not one of these guys that's going to ask you to do something he's not willing to do himself.

"I had an opportunity to work for him for eight years and learn so much about organization and football itself."

Pruitt served in a number of roles during his time at Alabama. He began as director of player development in 2007-2009, then served as defensive backs coach from 2010-2012.

Following stints as defensive coordinator at Florida State in 2013, and Georgia in 2014-2015, Pruitt returned to Alabama in 2016, serving as DC under Saban for the next two seasons.

Pruitt was named head coach of Tennessee in 2018.
