Alabama and Georgia are on the brink of becoming bowl eligible.

Alabama and Georgia are still in the driver's seat when it comes to making it to the SEC Championship Game. In Georgia's case, this naturally means it will lose three of its next four games, and wind up watching Bama play Florida for the SEC title.

Bama and UGA each need one win to become bowl eligible for the 2017 postseason. Alabama should have the easier road of the two schools to make that goal within the next three games. Besides Florida, Georgia has Vanderbilt, in Week 6, which always gives the Bulldogs more troubles than it should.

Here is how the SEC schools with three or more wins stand when it comes to bowl eligibility. Bowl projections, unless otherwise notes are from Jerry Palm of CBS Sports.

 5-0 Teams (Magic number: 1)

SEC West

Next three games:

Oct. 7: @ Texas A&M
Oct. 14: Arkansas
Oct. 21: Tennessee

Projected bowl: 2018 Sugar Bowl (College Football Playoff semifinal) (Jan. 1., 2018, New Orleans, La.)
Projected opponent: Ohio State

The 2018 Sugar Bowl will pit the no. 1 vs. no. 4 in the CFP Committee's end-of-the season standings.

SEC East

Next three games

Oct. 7: @Vanderbilt
Oct 14 Missouri
Oct. 21 BYE
Oct. 28 Florida (neutral site game, Jacksonville, Fl.)

Projected bowl: 2018 Peach Bowl (Jan 1, 2018, Atlanta, Ga.)
Projected opponent: Penn State

Despite pounding Mississippi State and Tennessee, the chances that Georgia winds up undefeated at the end of the season are limited. So would Georgia making it to a New Years Six bowl, if you want to be really honest. You really don't think UGA will beat Florida, do you?

4-1 Teams (Magic number: 2)

SEC West

Next three games:

Oct. 7 Ole Miss
Oct. 14 @ LSU
Oct. 21 @ Arkansas

Projected bowl: 2018 Outback Bowl (Jan. 1, 2018, Tampa Fl.)
Projected opponent: Purdue

Auburn goes on the road for two of its next three games. That will make getting the two wins needed to become bowl eligible more difficult.

And yes, Purdue is actually being projected by Jerry Palm as going to a New Years Day Bowl.

Texas A&M

Next three games:

Oct. 7 Alabama
Oct. 14 @Florida
Oct. 21 BYE
Oct. 28 Mississippi State

Projected bowl: 2017 Texas Bowl (Dec. 27, Houston, Tx)
Projected opponent: West Virginia

The possibilities that Texas A&M beats Alabama in Week 6 are pretty slim, to be honest. A road win against Florida may be tougher than it looks as well.

SEC East

Next three games:

Oct. 7 Missouri
Oct. 14 BYE
Oct. 21 @Mississippi State
Oct. 28 Tennessee

Projected bowl: 2017 Independence Bowl (Dec. 27, Shreveport, La.)
Projected opponent: Pittsburgh

Kentucky went 3-0 to start out the year, then lost to Florida in Week 4. While a win against Missouri is doable, beating both Mississippi St. and Tennessee will probably be tougher to get.

3-1 Teams (Magic number: 3)

Next three games:

Oct. 7 LSU
Oct. 14 Texas A&M
Oct. 21 BYE
Oct. 28 Georgia (@Jacksonville)

Projected bowl: 2018 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (Jan 1, 2018, Orlando, Fl.)
Projected opponent: Miami (Fl.)

Despite the loss of starting quarterback Luke Del Rio, Florida still has a fair chance to win the SEC East. There's still time for Georgia to screw up somewhere, and it will probably be in the Florida-Georgia game.

3-2 Teams (Magic number: 3)

SEC West

Next three games:

Oct. 7 @Florida
Oct. 14 Auburn
Oct. 21 @Ole Miss

Projected bowl: 2017 Liberty Bowl (Dec. 30, Memphis, Tn.)
Projected opponent: Texas Tech

Too soon to call the 2017 season a lost cause for LSU? The Week 5 loss to Troy has to go down as one of the biggest embarrassments in LSU history. It would probably be a stretch for LSU to win all three of these games.

Mississippi State

Next three games:

Oct. 7 BYE
Oct. 14 BYU
Oct. 21 Kentucky
Oct. 28 @Texas A&M

Projected bowl: 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl (Dec. 30, Jacksonville, Fl.)
Projected opponent: FSU

BYU is absolutely struggling this season, so a win there is very possible. Strong Kentucky and Texas A&M teams make the odds the Bulldogs winning three straight a little on the rough side.

SEC East

South Carolina

Next three games:

Oct. 7: Arkansas
Oct. 14 @Tennessee
Oct. 21 BYE
Oct. 28 Vanderbilt

Projected bowl: 2017 Birmingham Bowl, Birmingham, Al. (David M. Hale, ESPN)
Projected opponent: South Florida

Palm doesn't project South Carolina making it to the postseason. The Gamecocks are currently 1-2 in conference play, but wins against any of the next three teams on its schedule appear to very doable. That goes for the two biggest SEC East games after Vanderbilt, Georgia and Florida.

Next three games:

Oct. 7 BYE
Oct. 14 South Carolina
Oct. 21 Alabama
Nov. 28 Kentucky

Projected bowl: 2017 Belk Bowl (Dec. 29, Charlotte, NC)
Projected opponent: North Carolina State

Tennessee might make it to a bowl game this postseason. As for head coach Butch Jones, that could be another story.

Next three games:

Oct. 7 Georgia
Oct. 13 @Ole Miss
Oct. 21 BYE
Oct. 28 South Carolina

Projected bowl: 2017 Birmingham Bowl
Projected opponent: South Florida

Even with Vanderbilt  being massively exposed against Alabama,  Palm still has Vandy managing to make its way to a bowl this postseason.
