Old Dominion to face Eastern Michigan in 2016 Bahamas Bowl.

Old Dominion (9-3) will face Eastern Michigan (7-5) have accepted invitations for the 2016 Bahamas Bowl.



It will be the first bowl game in the history of Old Dominion who will be representing Conference USA in the December 23 matchup.

In a statement released by Old Dominion, head coach Bobby Wilder said "we are excited to learn our opponent will be Eastern Michigan for our first bowl game. We had two very competitive games with Eastern Michigan in 2014 and 2015. Both teams played good, clean, hard football. Both games were decided in the fourth quarter. We will start planning immediately for Eastern Michigan."

It will be the first bowl game since 1987 for Eastern Michigan. The Eagles defeated San Jose State in the 1987 California Bowl 30-27. It will represent the MAC in the game. 

"We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen to participate in the 2016 Popeyes Bahamas Bowl," Easter Michigan Chris Creighton said in a statement. "Nearly a year ago our seniors set our season goal, to go to a bowl game for the first time in 29 years. We could not be more excited to accept this invitation. What an awesome experience this is going to be for everyone associated with our program."

The 2016 Bahamas Bowl will be held on Dec. 23 at  Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, The Bahamas. It will air live on ESPN starting at 1:00 PM ET.
