It's felt like the College Football Playoff Committee have been plotting to find a way of getting both Ohio State and Michigan in this year's CFP. Meanwhile, the potential winner of the Big Ten, either Penn State or Wisconsin, will represent the conference in the traditional manner in the Rose Bowl.

The American has seven bowl eligible teams.

Bowl Eligiblity Watch

Nothing much has chanced for The American Athletic Conference on the bowl eligibility front. There are still seven bowl eligible American teams. Only one team, SMU, still has a chance to join them, but that chance involved having to beat The American West leader Navy to do so.

Four Sun Belt teams are bowl eligible.

Bowl Eligibility Watch

Four Sun Belt Conference teams have the six wins needed to be bowl eligible in the 2016 college football postseason. Only one team, Louisiana Lafayette, has a chance to join its fellow member schools. The bad news for the Ragin' Cajuns is that it will have to face conference-leading Arkansas State if it the team wants to keep its bowl hopes alive.

Here is the Sun Belt bowl eligibility rundown, the top team in the conference will go to the 2016 New Orleans bowl.

Bowl projections are via Jason Kirk of SB*Nation.

Bowl Eligible (Six-plus wins)

Arkansas State (6-4 overall, 6-0 conference)
Projected Bowl: 2016 New Orleans Bowl  vs. Louisiana Tech (Dec. 17, New Orleans, La.)

Appalachian State (8-3 overall, 6-1 conference)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Camelia Bowl vs. Eastern Michigan (Dec. 17, Montgomery, Al.)

Troy (8-2 overall, 5-1 conference)
2016 Dollar General Bowl vs. Toledo (Dec. 23, Mobile, Al.)

Idaho (6-4 overall, 5-1 conference)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Arizona Bowl vs. Air Force (Dec. 30, Tucson, Az.)

Running Out of Days (Four Wins, two wins needed to become bowl eligible)

Louisiana Lafayette (4-6 overall, 3-3 conference)
Week 13: vs. Arkansas State (Nov. 26)
Week 14: va. Louisiana Monroe (Dec. 3)

Essentially, Louisiana Lafayette has to beat the top team in the Sun Belt this Saturday, or else beating in-state rival Louisiana Lafayette won't mean anything.

Arizona State looks to join six Pac-12 teams that are already bowl eligible.

Bowl Eligibility Watch

Chris Petersen. Image via The Sacramento Bee.

Week 12 of the 2016 college football season saw Cal and UCLA eliminated from bowl eligibility contention, losing their respective games to Stanford and USC.

That leaves Arizona State as the only Pac-12 team with a chance join the six conference teams that have cemented their postseason eligibility with six wins.

Here's the rundown of where the bowl eligible Pac-12 may be heading in the postseason, as well as what Arizona State needs to do to join them.

Bowl Projections are via Jason Kirk of SB*Nation.

An "*" next to a projected bowl opponent indicates it has not yet qualified for a bowl itself.

Bowl Eligible Teams (Six-plus wins)

Washington (10-1)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Peach Bowl vs. Alabama (College Football Playoff, Dec. 31, Atlanta, Ga.)

Colorado (9-2)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Alamo Bowl vs. Oklahoma State (Dec. 29, San Antonio, Tx.)

USC (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2017 Rose Bowl Game vs. Ohio State (New Year's Six Bowl. Jan. 2, 2017, Pasadena, Ca.)

Colorado is the current Pac-12 South leader. It needs to defeat Utah this coming Saturday to go to the Pac-12 Championship game. If Washington beats the Buffaloes there, it will open the way for USC to leap over it in the CFP poll, and grab the Rose Bowl spot.

That is unless Washington manages to lose to Washington St. on Friday, knocking it out of the College Football Playoff. If it beats the Pac-12 South winner in the conference title game, it will end up in the Rose Bowl.

Washington State (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Holiday Bowl vs. Minnesota (Dec. 27, San Diego, Ca.)

Stanford (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Sun Bowl vs. Pittsburgh (Dec. 30, El Paso, Tx.)

Utah (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Forster Farms Bowl vs, *Indiana (Dec. 28, Santa Clara, Ca.)

It's Now or Never (Five games, needs to win final game of the regular season to become bowl eligible)

Arizona State (5-6)
Week 13: @ Arizona, (Nov. 25)

Arizona is 2-7 in 2016, so if Arizona St. blows it here, expect a lot of blowback for the Sun Devils and head coach Todd Graham.

Four C-USA teams are bowl eligible, three still need sixth win.

Bowl Eligibility Watch

The only thing that changed between Week 12 and Week 13 when it comes to Conference USA bowl eligibility is that there are only three teams that have a chance to join the four already bowl eligible conference teams.

Ten SEC teams are bowl eligible, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt still in the hunt.

Bowl Eligibility Watch

South Carolina Gamecocks. Image via The State.

If you had South Carolina becoming eligible for a bowl game before Ole Miss, congratulations: you have truly won the Championship of Life. It was looking for a while like Will Muschamp's first season as head coach of South Carolina might be his last. Late-season conference wins against Tennessee and Missouri helped the Gamecocks to its current 6-5 record.

There are now ten SEC teams that are bowl eligible. Ole Miss and Vanderbilt could join them with victories in the final game of the regular season.

Here's the rundown of where the bowl eligible and still in the bowl hunt are going to Week 13. Bowl projections are via Jason Kirk of SB*Nation.

Bowl Eligible Teams (Six-plus wins)

Alabama (11-0)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Peach Bowl vs. Washington (College Football Playoff. Dec. 31, Atlanta, Ga.)

Nick Saban vs. Chris Petersen? Yes, please. Reminder: This game is being played a day before the 20th anniversary of the Petersen-coached Boise State's upset of Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

Tennessee (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2017 Sugar Bowl vs. Oklahoma (New Year's Six bowl. Jan. 2, 2017, New Orleans, La.)

Florida (8-2)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Citrus Bowl vs. North Carolina (Dec. 31, Orlando, Fl.)

Since Alabama is in the College Football Playoff, the SEC

Auburn (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2017 Outback Bowl vs. Nebraska (Jan. 2, 2017, Tampa, Fl.)

Texas A&M (8-3)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Texas Bowl vs. TCU (Dec. 28, Houston, Tx.)

Texas losing to Kansas for the first time since Franklin D. Roosevelt was in office has apparently dashed hopes for an all-too brief revival of the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry. TCU vs. the Aggies is a pale substitute.

Arkansas (7-4)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Music City Bowl vs. Iowa (Dec. 30, Nashville, Tn.)

Georgia (7-4)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Liberty Bowl vs. Kansas State (Dec. 30, Memphis, Tn.)

Athens, Ga. is closer to Nashville than Fayetteville, Ak. is. Fayetteville is closer to Memphis than Athens. One would suspect it to be logical if Arkansas and UGA get bids to the opposite bowl that each is projected to be invited to.

LSU (6-4)
Projected Bowl: 2017 TaxSlayer Bowl vs. Virginia Tech (Dec. 31, Jacksonville, Fl.)

LSU's loss to Florida knocked it out of contention for the Sugar Bowl. A Tigers loss to Texas A&M could reshuffle the bowl bids for every SEC team with the exception of Alabama (and maybe Tennessee) altogether.

Kentucky (6-5)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Birmingham Bowl vs. Houston (Dec. 29, Birmingham, Al.)

South Carolina (6-5)
Projected Bowl: 2016 Belk Bowl vs. Miami (Dec. 29, Charlotte, Al.)

It's Now or Never (Five wins, needs to win in Week 13 to be bowl eligible)

Ole Miss (5-6)
Week 13: vs. Mississippi State (Nov. 26)
It comes down to the Egg Bowl for Ole Miss. Win against Mississippi State, and Ole Miss go to a bowl. Lose, and Hugh Freeze goes on the head coach hot seat.

Mississippi State, interestingly, could make it to a bowl if it beats Ole Miss if there aren't enough six-win teams at the end of the season. Mississippi State might sneak through the bowl eligibility bowl as a 5-7 team via its Academic Progress Rate.

Vanderbilt (5-6)
Week 13: vs. Tennessee
Is beating Tennessee possible? Well, Vandy did beat Georgia and Ole Miss. The Vols are also banged up. The Commodores are absolute underdogs, but considering how this college football season has gone, its not out of the question.

Vandy also has a high enough APR to go to a bowl as a 5-7 team, So there's always that.

Idaho joined Troy and Appalachian State as the only three currently eligible Sun Belt Conference teams this season. The biggest shock is probably that Georgia Southern hasn't joined them yet, but losses to Western Michigan, Georgia Tech, and Ole Miss, combined with three conference losses, have the Eagles on the brink of its first losing season as an FBS school.

Only two Sun Belt Conference teams are bowl eligible.

Bowl Elligility Watch

Only two teams in the Sun Belt Conference are currently bowl eligible. Appalachian and Troy are the only Sun Belt teams that have earned the six wins needed to advance to a postseason bowl at the end of the year. There is one team that is one game away from six wins, and three that are two games away.

Bowl projections used for bowl eligible teams are from SB*Nation's Jason Kirk.

Bowl Eligible (Six or more wins)

Appalachian State (7-2)
Projected Bowl: Camela Bowl (Montgomery, Al.) vs. Eastern Michigan (Dec. 17)

Troy (7-1)
Projected Bowl: New Orleans Bowl (New Orleans, La.) vs. Louisiana Tech (Dec. 17)

On the Brink (Five wins, one more needed for eligibility.)

Idaho (5-4)
Week 11: @ Texas State (Nov. 12)

Texas State is 2-6 this season, so Idaho could sew up its bowl eligibility this Saturday. If not, it will have to wait until Nov. 26, when the Vandals host currently 4-5 South Alabama for a chance to get its sixth win. (The Vandals have a bye in Week 12.) It's final shot for bowl eligibility will be against currently 2-7 Georgia Southern on Dec. 3.

Running Out of Days (Four wins, two more needed for eligibility.)

Arkansas State (4-4)
Week: 11 vs. New Mexico State (Nov. 12)

New Mexico State is currently 2-6, so it seems like the Red Wolves can pick up a win here. That would be beneficial as the team faces Troy on in the first of three road games on Nov. 17. The Red Wolves travel to Louisiana Lafayette on Nov. 26, and South Texas on Dec. 3.

Georgia Southern (4-5)
Week 11: vs. Louisiana Lafayette (Nov. 10)

2016 has been a disappointing season for Georgia Southern. After a 9-4 season that saw the Eagles win its first bowl game as a FBS school, the team finds itself needing to win two of its last three games of the season to go to a bowl this season. A win Thursday night against Louisiana Lafayette would definitely receive some of the pressure the Eagles face.

The Eagles will face in-state rival Georgia State in Atlanta on Nov. 19. The Panthers are currently 2-7, so odds are good it can chalk out a win there. That would be a good thing, as the Eagles close out the season by hosting Troy at home on Dec.3.

South Alabama (4-5)
Week 11: Bye, Week 12: vs. Presbyterian (Nov 19)

South Alabama will have to wait until Nov. 19 for a chance at a fifth win. Then it has to travel to Idaho to face the Vandals, and finishes off the season against New Mexico on Dec. 3.
