Tennessee will be without the services of defensive tackle Danny O'Brien for its big Week 2 matchup against Oklahoma on Saturday. Volunteers head coach Butch Jones announced that O'Brien had been suspended for the ever-vague "violation of team rules" on Wednesday.

Also undefined is the duration of O'Brien's suspension, which Jones also did not disclose.

“It's disappointing anytime you have to do that,” Jones said. “It's like disciplinging your own kids. You hate to do it, but you have to do it. We have standards and expectations. … I feel for Danny. He's done some very good things in our football program."

O'Brien was a starter in 12 games for the Vols in 2014. He collected 23 tackles and one sack.

O'Brien was one of two Tennessee players suspended in February of 2014 on alcohol-related charges. The charges were later dropped after reaching an agreement with state officials.

Tennessee will host Oklahoma on Sept. 12 at 6:00 PM EST.
