Tennessee and Georgia Tech to play in 2017 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

Tennessee has announced that it will face Georgia Tech Georgia Tech  in the 2017 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on Sept. 17, 2017.



The game will mark Tennessee's second CFA Kickoff Game appearance, the first coming in 2012, when the Vols beat NC State . It will be Georgia Tech's first CFA Kickoff Game appearance.

In a statement released from the school, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones said that “We are looking forward to and are very excited to open the 2017 season in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta,” and that “It will be a great opportunity for our program to play in a new state-of-the-art facility while playing on a national stage. The state of Georgia is very important to us in recruiting footprint, and that coupled with our alumni base and passionate fans, will make for a very exciting experience.”

The game will be one of the first football games to be played in the successor stadium to the Georgia Dome, which has been the site for the CFA Kickoff Game, the SEC Championship Game, the Peach Bowl, and the Atlanta Falcons. The stadium is set to open in 2017.
