Urban Meyer will throw out first pitch before Yankees game at Yankee Stadium.

From the "Things that will annoy Clevelanders to know end (which is a good thing)" department come word that Urban Meyer will be throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium. The Ohio State head coach will perform the ceremonial activity before the Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium on May 8.

Meyer played for two season in the Atlanta Braves' minor league farm system before retiring from the sport due to injuries. He was also attending the University of Cincinnati at the time, where he joined the Bearcats football team as a walk-on safety.

The reason for Meyer's invitation to Yankee Stadium in probably twofold one is to honor Meyer and Ohio State for winning the inaugural College Football Playoff title. The other is to promote the 2015 Pinstripe Bowl, which is played at Yankee Stadium. James Franklin, the head coach of 2014 Pinstripe Bowl winner Penn State, threw out the first pitch in Yankee Stadium last week.

Meyer threw out the first pitch before the Tampa Bay Rays - Cleveland Indians game at Progressive Field in Cleveland last month. That probably still won't make this move any more irksome to Cleveland natives, whom get annoyed at the tiniest of perceived slights. Like whenever LeBron James wore a Yankees cap.
