Jim Harbaugh admits Michigan St. is currently "the biggest guy on the block"

First-year Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh confessed to something the rest of the college football knew - That Michigan State has overtaken Michigan as "the biggest guy on the block" in the two in-state schools' rivalry.

Speaking to a high school coaches clinic in Detroit, Harbaugh admitted "We (Michigan) know we're not the biggest guy on the block – Michigan State's the biggest guy."

Harbaugh went on to give respect to how Michigan St. has overtaken Michigan in recent years.

"It's winning and where their program is, it's been earned," he said. "We respect the job that they've done. We want people to know what our ambitions are and how we go about things and what kind of program we're developing and has been developed for many years. And get their help."

While, Michigan still leads Michigan St. in the overall rivalry 68-34-5, the Spartans have beaten the Wolverines six out of the last seven meetings. This includes last season's brutal 35-11 beatdown handed to the Michigan by Michigan St.

Michigan has also been losing out to Michigan St. when it comes to in-state recruiting. Part of Harbaugh's confession was trying to get back into the good graces of the Detroit-area high school coaches attending the clinic.
