Auburn DE Elijah Daniel suspended after arrest on multiple theft and burglary charges.

Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel has been suspended from participation with the school's football program following his arrest on seven charges involving accusations of theft and burglary on Wednesday.

Gus Malzahn, head coach of Auburn, told The Opelika-Auburn News that he "aware of the situation and Elijah has been suspended indefinitely from our team.”

Information on the case is scarce, but Auburn City Police arrested Daniel along with two other suspects on the same charges Wednesday night. One of the suspects, DeNorris James, was a former walk-on at Auburn. The other, Khalil Sellers, is described by al.com as "a track athlete but is not listed on Auburn's most recent track roster."

Daniel is was booked into the Lee County Detention Center in Opelika, Al. on Wednesday. He faces four theft of property charges, described by al.com as "ranging from first to third degree." He also faces four charges of burglary, which range "from second to third degree" in severity.

Daniel, a rising junior, has played in 27 games at Auburn, and was a starter twice in 2014. He was expected to compete for a starting job during the Tigers' fall camp in August prior to his arrest and suspension.
