Gus Malzahn found it hard to watch inaugural College Football Playoff title game.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn was brought on by ESPN as an analyst for the College Football Playoff title game. It meant that he was on the sidelines at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tx. when Ohio State became the first CFP champion, defeating Oregon. That didn't make Malzahn, who led the Tigers to the final BCS title game in 2014, feel any better about watching the game.

Malzahn discussed the disappointment in Auburn not making it into the College Football Playoff with al.com.

"Oh, yeah, there's no doubt," Malzahn said last week. "I mean, that was one of our goals. We didn't reach it and when you get a chance to watch it, it has a way of motivating you. But it was definitely tough."

Oh well, at least he got a paycheck for being at the game.
