Chris Fowler shares bogus facts about Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori found on "satirical" Internet site.

Poor Chris Fowler. The ESPN College GameDay host, who is currently in the booth at the Australian Open for the WWL, decided to share some little known "facts" about Japanese tennis star Kei Nishikori  he found on the Internet. Facts such as Nishikori was "the highest paid tennis player on the male side in the world," via his Japanese restaurant chain, Fat Nishikori Burger, among other things.

The only problem is they weren't true. They came from a "satirical" Chinese-based website called Media Mass.* It's apparently deliberately trying to set out to fool more well-respected media outlets into passing on its manufactured horse crap, as opposed to providing some level of humorous commentary like The Onion and its online spiritual hellspawn.

Fowler had since admitted his mistake via Twitter, where he apologized for falling for Media Mass' cunning stunt.

So if you see a "Fat Nishikori Burger"- related sign on College GameDay this fall, you know why.

*I decided on not posting a link to the site because it doesn't deserve any more traffic to its prog-awful site.
