Rutgers paints the Big Ten logo on the field of High Point Solutions Stadium.

Another sign of a the dawn of a new and awkward era for the Big Ten has reared its ugly face at Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights don't officially join the B1G until July 1. That hasn't stopped the school from adding the Big Ten logo to the field in High Point Solutions Stadium.

Look upon your works, Jim Delany, and despair.

Okay, let's admit bashing the addition of Rutgers and Maryland to the Big Ten is almost as fun as mocking Texas A&M and Missouri's admission to the SEC was. Of course the joke's been on us the past couple of seasons with the Johnny Football era in College Station and Mizzou winning the SEC East this season. Could that happen with Rutgers and Maryland in their first couple of season in the B1G? It could, but it's not something you would want to hold your breath over it.
