USC looks to Vanderbilt's James Franklin and Bosie State's Chris Pertesen to replace Lane Kiffin.
Be afraid, Vanderbilt. Be very afraid. According to ESPN's Joe Schad, USC is interested in hiring Commodores head coach James Franklin as the next HC of the Trojans. USC is also looking at perennial coaching job candidate Chris Petersen of Boise State as well.
Franklin has engineered a turnaround in Commodore football like none could expect. That includes wins over Georgia and Florida this season, and a two-season winning streak over in-state rival Tennessee.
Petersen is coming off one of Bosie State's most disappointing seasons in years, going 8-4 and very much out of the BCS picture. It apparently hasn't stopped Petersen's name from being a target for USC, however.
USC fired then-head coach Lane Kiffin following the Trojan's loss to Arizona State on Sept. 28. Interim head coach Ed Orgeron will reportedly be asked to remain on staff at USC, according to Schad.
