Michigan State "Sparty" statue gets painted Michigan colors.

Some mischievous person or persons unknown apparently sneaked upon the The Michigan State campus sometime between Friday night and early Saturday morning and decided to give The Spartan statue (imaginatively nicknamed "Sparty") a slight makeover in time for the Spartans' spring game. This included a blue paint job to Sparty's helmet, and a giant maize M painted on his chest. Now gee, who could have done that?

This used to be considered a harmless college prank. That was before the oak trees at Toomer's Corner got poisoned by an Alabama fan. Now you've got to looks at these kind of things in a different light. This paint job may be temporary, but it is going to cost money to remove.

Suggestion to Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon: Offer to pay for the cleanup. It's one of the best ways you could show the school doesn't appreciate this.
