Barrett Jones to have foot surgery, will miss NFL Combine.

Alabama offensive lineman Barrett Jones will have surgery to repair ligaments in his left foot that he has been dealing with for the past five weeks. The injury, which prevented Jones from participating in the majority team practices before the BCS title game, was previously thought to have been a sprained ankle.

According to Jones, he has been suffering from a Lisfranc injury, which effects the mid-foot area.

"Jones said it was diagnosed as a Lisfranc injury, the same ailment Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub had last year.

“Ligaments in your mid-foot tear,” Jones said. “It’s frustrating, and it’s very painful, but there was no way I was missing this one.”

The surgery will sideline Jones for three to four months, and will prevent his participation in the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
