A.J. McCarrom knee injury update.

You could hear he collective heart of the Alabama faithful miss a beat on Saturday after Crimson Tide starting quarteback A.J. McCarron went down with a keee injury in the team's win over Missouri. McCarron managed to return to the field and continue playing in the game.  Sunday, Alabama head football coach Nick Saban gave an update on McCcarron's status when he appeared on ESPN's BCS Countdown Show.

"Speaking on ESPN's BCS Countdown show, Saban said McCarron has a bruised knee, which is what was initially assumed Saturday. He added that McCarron's soreness was exacerbated because he pinched the "fat pad" in his knee.

The fat pad, according to SportsInjuryClinic.net, is the soft tissue that lies below the kneecap.

McCarron did not have much swelling in the knee 24 hours after Alabama routed Missouri, 42-10. It appears likely he will be on the field for his 20th consecutive start Saturday at Tennessee."

McCarron showed a new level of toughness on Saturday, which should come in handy against Tennessee this coming Saturday.
