Pete Caroll and Phil Fulmer on the Arkansas head coaching radar?

If you believe the reports of a TV station out of  Fayetteville, AR,  The University of Arkansas is interested in former USC and current Seattle Seahawks head football coach Pete Carroll to replaced the disgraced ex-Razorbacks HC Bobby Petrino, The only problem is that Carroll has no interest in return for the job. He has also placed his support via Twitter behind another coach connected with the  Arkansas coaching search, former NFL coach Steve Mariucci.

Meanwhile yet another former reported candidate for the Arkansas job, former Tennessee HC Phil Fulmer, says he has not been in contact with the school about replacing Petrino, but did not sound like he was shooting down the idea of coaching the Razorbacks.

"When I left Tennessee, I was asked if I would coach again, and I said I would consider it if it was at a place where I could compete for a championship," Fulmer said. "Arkansas does qualify as that kind of place, as there is a very solid foundation there."

It any of the above stories are true, then you can't fault Arkansas for aiming high when it comes to replacing Petrino. On the other hand, such purported attempts to land a big-name coach will only lead to disappointment and grumbling among the fanbase when a lesser talent is finally named as head football coach.
