Covering Dixie Like Mildew: Dan Mullen, Vanderbilt, Cam Newton and more.

A Likely story. Dan Mullen claims that no one has tried to contact him with an offer to coach at another school, and  he has “no plans on going anywhere.” (Cue The Smiths) (Rivals.com)

One place Dan Mullen won't be going. Mullen is reportedly off the list of potential candidates for Miami head football coach. They must have heard about the Florida opening. (ESPN)

Dan Mullen should not coach Florida. Because Mike Bianchi says so. Shut up, Mike. (Orlando Sentinel)

Congressional seal of approval. Derek Dooley and Tennessee have the support of North Carolina Congressman and former Tennessee quarterback Heath Shuler, even though The Vols play North Carolina in the Music City Bowl. (Go Vols Xtra)

Vanderbilt coaching casting couch. Maryland offensive coordinator James Franklin is looked at as a possible candidate for Vanderblt head coach if Gus Malzahn turns down the school's offer. (Which he will if he's smart). (The Tennessean)

Your Move, Georgia. Florida losing Urban Meyer is seen as an opening for Georgia. Which, knowing Georgia, means the program will probably punt it away. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Georgia "should win the SEC East in 2011." There's a possibility, but no chance. (Dawg Sports)

Gratuitous Cam Newton update. Cam Newton won a lot of awards last night. (Rivals.com)

Cecil Newton not going to the Heisman Ceremony. I guess he wants to stay home to watch Pony Excess on ESPN's 30 for 30 Saturday night.  (Rivals.com)
